Blue Like the Sky

Warm healing thoughts on the way!

Hi,

I commented once before, when there'd been a gap in your blogging. I have several friends with (young) kids (between 5 and 14) who have mental illnesses. One of them is described by his dad as being the sweetest kid, who can suddenly be triggered into uncontrollable rages. I came to your blog through "green" blogs, and stayed for all your posts. Thanks!

Warm thoughts,

I really appreciate your honest and searching depiction of mothering a child with Bipolar.

I pray God give you strength.

Zip, thanks for sticking around... it's never boring around here, at least! :-)

Welcome to my place, Pistol Pete! Come back and read awhile... there's a little bit of everything here. I've bookmarked your blog to visit!

Hi - glad I found you! I tracked you down by way of Anon. Mom. We found each other somehow a few weeks back. I am 36 and was diagnosed with BP as a teenager - around 18'ish - but had been wrongly diagnosed with clinical depression at 14. My sister is a nurse practitioner who lives in NC with her two children: one is 7 and he was dx'ed with bipolar 2 years ago, and the little girl is 3 and shows no signs. Ethan has been "off" since a baby. My sister has done a lot of research on Bipolar kids, and he is finally on a regimine that works. Anyhow, I wanted to introduce myself, and hope you can stop by my blog, The Oxygen Chronicles at www.theO2Chronicles.blogspot.com. I will be doing a post on parents with Bipolar kids and will be mentioning a few blogs. If you'd like to be on there after looking at my site, just let me know :) hang in there and I admire you greatly... Hinsley

Welcome, Hinsley! I'm so glad you came by to visit. Thanks you for the compliment, and for sharing your story. We're in Austin this weekend, campus-visiting and apartment-hunting with Eldest, but I've bookmarked your site to drop in. :-)

Great post! ADHD medications can aid in improving one's condition. I seeked help from http://www.attention-deficit-disorder.net as they provide a variety of solutions to the attention deficit disorder. I've tried them and it really works. I highly recommend this to all of you.

Hi, lia... thanks for stopping by.

I'm glad you've found a helpful medication to manage your ADHD. You're right; they can be very helpful to people with ADHD.

Parents of bipolar children, however, should be aware, as my post points out, that ADHD medications can worsen manic symptoms, so close supervision and consultation with a psychiatrist is important.

(over from necessary therapy)

This makes me cry. My bp daughter is 8, and she reminds me of my ex, too. I tried taking her off Strattera (Adderall sent her WAY manic) but that was really bad, so we continue to balance the meds thru the day. Somedays better than others. And mornings ... ugh. I'm glad it's not just me.
