I so feel your frustration! I spent an hour and a half in Office Max buying school supplies for my soon to be 1st grader, and I had a hard time with everything. The paper I thought would be the easiest as I had previously bought a Mead recycled notebook for myself which was of course college ruled. I guess we're not supposed to teach our kids about environmental responsibility until high school. Maybe by then we will have found an alternative because there won't be any more trees!!! I did today(after spending several hours find "wide ruled filler paper" @ The Green Office(www.thegreenoffice.com) and was thinking of buying that and putting it in the 1/2" Rebinder from Sustainable Group(www.sustainablegroup.net). I haven't given up looking because I don't want to be forced to buy something I can't feel good about purchasing. I know I don't have a choice in some areas like colored pencils(though my friend did bring me back some great ones from Germany and I did find some wood free ones that I love but they break easily) so I settled for some from Crayola that are made in Brazil but supposedly from reforested wood(I'll probably end up taking those back). The whole thing is frustrating and I find it hard to beleive that it isn't for anyone else. Misery loves company, thanks for posting and if I find anything else I'll pass it along. What do you think of the newspaper pencils?
